
Miguel Viveiros (IHMT/UNL) - Associate Professor with Habilitation in Biomedical Sciences (Speciality Microbiology) in the Unit of Medical Microbiology (Group of Mycobacteriology) of the IHMT/UNL. President of the Pedagogical Council of the IHMT/UNL (2010-2014). In charge of the IHMT / UNL adaptation to the Bologna Process and to the Agency for Higher Education Accreditation (A3ES )Accreditation process and of the Monitoring System of Teaching Quality of UNL implementation at IHMT/UNL. Supporting the mission and institutional strategy of teaching and capacity building for the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) in Biomedical Sciences, International Health and Tropical Medicine. Supported the submission of two new study cycles of IHMT / UNL, 3rd Cycle in Human Genetics and Infection (partnership with FCM / UNL) and 2nd cycle in Epidemiology (partnership with FCM / UNL and ENSP / UNL). Erasmus and Erasmus Mundus Coordinator for the IHMT. Scientific activity devoted to the early diagnosis of active or latent tuberculosis (TB) infections as well as the development of new therapeutical approaches to deal with MDRTB and with other drug resistant bacterial infections. Also interested in molecular biology of mycobacteria and immunology of TB. Executive Co-ordinator of the Masters in Medical Microbiology of the UNL. As Deputy-Director of the TB Laboratory of the IHMT (since 2001) has contributed to the resolution of the pulmonary TB problem of Lisbon by the generation of complete reports within a period of 15 to 20 days for 10 Hospitals of the TB Task Force of Lisbon. More than 90 studies published in peer review national and international journals in mycobacteriology, bacteriology, resistance to antibiotics, microbial genetics, molecular epidemiology and immunology.
