NOVA has been a supporter of soft and sustainable mobility initiatives for several years.
With its Campus served by one of the main cycling routes in Lisbon, the university intends to create conditions to encourage the use of the bicycle as an alternative means of transportation. Participation in the U-Bike Portugal project is a concrete step towards changing behaviours and mentalities.
With this project, to be launched during 2017, NOVA will have 300 bicycles available for rent by the members of the academic community - students, teachers and non-teaching staff - who are willing to change their travel habits, and replace motorized vehicles with bikes.
By choosing this healthy, ecological and sustainable form of mobility, bikers will have access to infrastructure, support services, activities and events provided by the university.
