EU Maritime Economy and Blue Growth, new Jean Monnet Chair course, starts in February

The course is one of the actions comprised in the OCEANID, the prestigious Jean Monnet Chair assigned to NOVA under the coordination of Professor Regina Salvador.

EU Maritime Economy and Blue Growth is a new course lectured at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa Innovative course for Masters and PhD students interested in a multidisciplinary perspective of maritime affairs.

This course is one of the actions comprised in the OCEANID, the prestigious Jean Monnet Chair assigned to NOVA which intends to contribute to an improvement in maritime and marine knowledge along the lines of the European Commission perspectives of “Blue Growth, Opportunities for Marine and Maritime Sustainable Growth”.

With a total of 64 lecture hours that start from 15 February onwards, EU Maritime Economy and Blue Growth offers a broad yet in-depth analysis of the European maritime economy, its associated sectors and global contexts. By the end of the course, students will have gained unique insight into the transversal factors affecting the seas and their relationships with EU policy planning related to the environment, cohesion, external relations and law.

Classes are led by Jean Monnet Chair Professor Regina Salvador, from NOVA FCSH, with the participation of other national and international specialists.

The course is free for NOVA students and is open to Masters and PhD students of other institutions.
