In his last speech as Rector at the NOVA University Day (full speech in Portuguese available here), Professor Rendas took stock of his leadership of the University over the last years but focused especially on the challenges that lie ahead.
The ceremony also included the speeches of the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Professor Manuel Heitor, the President of NOVA's General Council, Professor Eduardo Arantes e Oliveira and the President of the Student Association of the FCSH/NOVA, Hugo Silva, as a representative of the Student Council.
On this day the University honored professors, researchers and students who have excelled in the academic year 2015/2016. These and other highlights can be seen in this video.
Over 250 doctorates by NOVA in the last year were invited to receive their academic insignia. These were bestowed by the Rector and the Directors of the various NOVA teaching units.
At the NOVA University Day employees who have completed 30 years of service at the University were also awarded medals.
