Pedagogical Coaching

With the dual purpose of contributing to the professional development of teachers and promoting the improvement of teaching quality, the Professional Development Office for Academic Staff provides pedagogical support in a variety of formats.

Directed at any higher education teacher (priority to NOVA's teaching staff)

Designated by General Access Training Courses, they are organized jointly with the Medical Education Office of the NOVA Medical School. These courses last for 12 hours distributed over 3 sessions of 4 hours.

At the end of the course, teachers should be able to:

  • Recognize their role as teachers in the system where they develop their activity;
  • Design and plan their pedagogical activity;
  • Select the pedagogical format most suitable for the target audience and the objectives to be achieved;
  • Evaluate pedagogical processes and learning products.

The next edition of the general access training courses will take place in the 18th and 25th May and the 1st June, 5pm. – 9pm. at the NOVA Medical School.

Designed at the request of NOVA Academic Units (restricted access to the elements of those)

The courses are designed on request and cover topics arising from the needs identified in the academic units, such as tutorial work formats, pedagogical training of teaching assistants, pedagogical coordination skills, etc.

Ongoing projects in the 2016/2017 school year

“Development of Pedagogical Coordination Skills” Project with Coordinators of the 1st Study Cycle and Integrated Master from the different Academic Units. Requested by the Directors of the different NOVA Academic Units.
