Description

The Faculdade de Direito da Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FDUNL) was set up under Government Order nº 164/ME/, dated 17 July 1996, issued by the then Minister of Education, Professor Marçal Grilo. This statute remained in force until August 1999, when the Establishment Committee, chaired by Prof. Professor Diogo Freitas do Amaral, commissioned the drawing up of the Faculty’s Articles of Association and defined its new management bodies. 

The new School was established to create an innovative centre for the teaching of Law and the development of legal science in Portugal, a centre in which research in new disciplines would combine with the aim of responding to the new demands for training in the legal profession.
