At the end of this course the students should have learned:
-Basic concepts of energy and industrial processes
-Unit Operations in Chemical and Environmental Processes
-Calculate Mass and Energy Balances
-Best Available Technologies;Integrated Prevention and Pollution Control Techniques
Students should have aquired competences to support Environmental Audits and Environmental Impact Assessments
Prerequisites
Knowledge of Chemistry Principles is recommended.
Subject matter
Process diagrams and Flow Sheets for several chemical industries.
Identification of point sources of Pollution.
Case studies on mass balances.
Case studies on Energy Balances.
European Directive on Integrated Prevention and Pollution Control. Best Available Technologies.
Production of Energy.
Advantages and Disadvantages of various ways of Energy production.
