The undergraduate, post-graduate and master programmes are an important and balanced part of the ISEGIUNL activity contributing to the development and competitiveness of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa. ISEGIUNL is the smallest division of UNL offering undergraduate courses and promoting high-quality teaching and research, attracting first-class students from Portugal and other countries. From our current solid position, we now face the chalenge to tackle some of the emerging priorities related to attacting a wider range of students and to better understand the new technologies in place at the institute.

During this decade ISEGIUNL will have reached 18 years of existence – the transition to adulthood. It is therefore a period for reflexion on the innovations and successes of the past in order to take them to the future. 80 students were enroled at ISEGIUNL in the 1990-1991 academic year – 40 in the1st stage and the other half the 2nd. At present, ISEGIUNL has become a higher studies institute rated by more than 500 students as a preferential learning centre. There are over 300 students enroled in 1st stage (120 of them in life-long learning) and 200 in 2nd stage (50 of them in e-learning).

What the future will bring is uncertain but major changes are yet to come. The flexibility, the will to advance and the dedication of our contributors and teachers (both internal and guests teachers) of ISEGIUNL have made it possible to identify a set of opportunities and to follow a path marked by permanent changes. It is our wish that the coming years will be at least as successful as the past ones.
