Support services
FCT has a range of services mainly aimed at students.
Academic Services – responsible for all matters pertaining to the enrolment and admission of students from every teaching level in the Faculty.
Reception and Mobility Office (Gabinete de Acolhimento e Mobilidade – GAM) – responsible for receiving students, arranging accommodation and integrating students into the Faculty; for carrying out and managing the application process for national and international mobility of FCT students. This includes the awarding of scholarships and the monitoring of external mobility students, in cooperation with the Academic Services.
Career Guidance and Counselling Office (Gabinete de Orientação e Informação de Emprego – GOIE) – responsible for helping FCT graduates and postgraduates to enter the job market.
Psychological Support and Counselling Office (Gabinete de Apoio Psicológico e Aconselhamento – GAPA) – responsible for providing support in teaching, learning and personal development, to graduate and postgraduate students.
There is also a range of services which, although not entirely dedicated to students, also support their activities: the Library, Information Centre, Training Centre, Image Centre, Press and Information Centre, Sport and Cultural Activities Office and the Hygiene and Safety Office (see Services).
Library
The Caparica Campus Library has capacity for 522 individuals with six reading rooms with material that is accessible to all FCT members of the academic staff, researchers, students and staff and to the general public.
All this material has been entered in a catalogue. Users can also have access to material that is not present at FCT, through the interlibrary loan system, which covers partner institutions in Portugal and abroad.
The Library also provides photocopiers, which are available for students to use, by purchasing cards that can be recharged at any service counter.
Users also have access to a printing service, where payment is carried out through a virtual account linked to the CLIP system, which can be topped up at the service counters of the Library. There is also the possibility of scanning documents.
There are fifty computers available to work on assignments and carry out research; there is wireless Internet access throughout the building and it is possible to remotely access all documentation that is available digitally.
The library has 40 individual study rooms; 8 rooms for group work; an exhibition room and an amphitheatre with 80 seats.
Given that the institution is part of the B-On platform it is possible to have access to a large number of academic journals, even when outside the campus.
