Objectives
The main course objective is to introduce the student to the design and project of analog microelectronics circuits based on advanced CMOS technology. The student will learn, through hands-on lab, the development process flow of these type of circuits.
Subject matter
I- CMOS technology and MOS amplifiers: Origin of the integrated circuits, MOS technology, available devices in CMOS, models and operating regions; cut-off, weak-inversion, moderate/strong inversion, linear, triode and saturation regions; body and channel modulation effects; Biasing of MOS amplifiers using current-mirrors;
1.2.Small-signal analysis for low and medium/high frequencies; CMOS basic building-blocks; Single-stage and two-stage operational amplifiers with compensation. Introduction to noise analysis: definition of noise power spectral density; thermal noise and sampled KT/C noise; 1/f noise; Switched-capacitor (SC) circuits.Bibliography
