Objectives

a) To recognize the main literary problematics through the analysis of some essential topics;
b) To obtain systematic general and historically organized information about the programme subjects;
c) To know critical approaches and relevant conceptual schemes relevant in the area of literary studies;
d) To acquire literary critical competence on the literary text through the practice of commentary and analysis.

1.1. The notion of mimesis;
1.2. The classic system of literary genres;
2.3. The concept of model.
2.1. The literary semiotic system
2.2. The aesthetic dimension of literature;
2.3. Literary periods.
3. Narrative text.
3.1. Narrative categories;
3.2. The study of the literary character;
3.3. The study of description;
3.4. The problem of representation.
4. The poetic text.
4.1. Rethoric of the poetic text;
4.2. The emergency of the subject;
4.3. The image;
4.4. “Fancy” and “imagination”.

Teaching method

1. Theoretical explanation of the main topics of the programme;
2. Preparation of reading reports on articles and syllabus works;
3. Tutorial supervision of written and oral works individually prepared.

Evaluation method

Production of two written documents and of two practical exercises in class; levels of attendance will be considered.
