Objectives
a) To learn about the contribution of various energy sources to the development of societies;
b) To understand the energy dependence of present-day societies, as well their insecurity/instability concerning resupplying and pricing resulting from the contemporary geopolitical framework;
c) To equate environmental problems with various energy sources and the technologies utilised in their production, with particular emphasis on fuels;
d) To understand the diversity, complexity and inter-connected nature of environmental questions;
e) To envisage future possible scenarios concerning energy consumption and the replacement of fossil fuels by alternative energy sources;
f) To understand the challenges of energy sustainability and achieving compatibility between energy and the environment.

Teaching method
Lectures and practices which, beyond the necessary exhibits from the teaching, students are asked to reflect and participate orally on the issues under review
Evaluation method
Reading a set of themed texts, which will be subject to evaluation in a presencial written test.
Preparation of an individual research project supported by group work, bibliography and various textual information obtained through autonomous research.
Oral presentation of the results obtained in the research project.
