Objectives
a) To think critically and problematize the concepts of “contemporary” and “modern”;
b) To analyse critically the poetry of Cesário Verde and Camilo Pessanha, and aim at considering both authors as our “contemporaries” (in the sense of “classics”) that is, defying and timeless.
c) To study the importance of both authors in Portuguese Literature in the 20th century.

Subject matter
To study the poetry of Cesário Verde and Camilo Pessanha;
To study a corpus of authors where their influence is relevant:
Fernando Pessoa, Alexandre O’Neill, Sophia de Mello Breyner and Carlos de Oliveira.
