Education objectives
1) To have up to date theoretical and methodological training in the field of Communication Sciences;
2) To understand the world from a critical point of view, in particular issues related to the phenomenon of communication;
3) To develop skills required to undertake theoretical and/or practical work in the field of Communication Sciences;
4) To be familiar with the different professional realities and opportunities within the field of study of the course;
5) To be familiar with the concepts, tools and methodologies required to exercise the profession in different areas of communication, namely:
a) in journalism and the news media,
b) in cinema, television and other audiovisual media,
c) in strategic and political communication,
d) in public relations,
e) in the field of artistic and cultural production, management and programming;
6) To be able to carry out innovative and experimental projects in the field of knowledge of the course;
7) To be able to reflect on one’s own personal development in relation to all academically relevant subject matters in the context of Communication Sciences.
Access conditions
Completion of secondary education, with a minimum entry grade of 9.5 on a scale of 0 to 20. Students may also be admitted to Higher Education through special access and entry systems, re-enrolment systems, course changes and transfers. More information: http://www.acessoensinosuperior.pt
Degree pre-requisites
Each student must obtain 180 credits: 120 credits from compulsory courses of the study programme, 30 credits from restricted options and 30 credits from free options or a Minor from another academic area. Each semester the student may not enrol in more than 30 credits and must respect any pre-requisites which have been set. At the beginning of each semester, the student is advised as to which courses are the most appropriate for his/her academic pathway and which should be taken.
Access to other courses
Completion of the "licenciatura" degree allows the holder to apply for Masters programs, or other post-graduate courses including those which do not confer a degree.
Evaluation rules
Assessment is in accordance with the assessment regulations approved by the competent statutory body.
