Schedule
Not determined yet. Lectures will be delivered according to the subjects on different formats. As such a proper timetible will be posted at the begining of the term.
Education objectives
The educational, scientific and cultural goals for FCT-UNL result from the strategy defined for UNL as an international and national reference school on doctoral programmes, research oriented and also as capable of promoting scientific and technical partnerships at the national and international levels.
In Portugal there was still a lack of a proper postgraduate programme on radiation biochemistry and biophysics that can fulfil a gap in the current demand in the different related research areas. Such a programme will only be successful if bringing in international expertise and partnership. Here we aim to build a programme that is international in nature, multidisciplinary and versatile to answer the needs for competent researchers in the topics of the proposal. The programme provides advanced training by putting together a set of different experts in their specialised fields, introducing students to cutting-edge theories and research methods, comprising an advanced and up-to-date training in radiation biology and biophysics. It is also the aim of the programme that after its completion, the PhD graduate will have acquired the necessary background either for a future academic career or as senior researcher in industrial and/or health care environments.
Degree pre-requisites
Succesfull approval on all curriculuar units under the Radiation Biology and Biophysics Advanced Studies.
Access to other courses
The current Radiation Biology and Biophysics Advanced Studies (RaBBiT) will allow students to be transferred to the Radiation Biology and Biophysics Doctoral Trainning Programme (RaBBiT) reading for a Ph D degree.
Evaluation rules
The evaluation scheme will be delivered to students at the begining of each term and is dependent the specificities of each curricular unit. Typically, the evaluation will be performed on written assays, oral/seminar presentations, lab demonstrations and/or problem solving skills.
