R&D Documentation Centre Research and PhDs
The ID - Research and PhDs Documentation Centre was conceived to support research and postgraduate activity bringing together, in the same physical space, the collections of several FCSH Research Units.
The collection is mainly made up of monographs featuring the scientific fields of the FCSH Research Units. A wide range of journals are also available as well as, on a smaller scale, several theses, both at the Master´s and PhD levels.

The Mapoteca (Map collection) of the Geography and Regional Planning Department has a remarkable collection of cartography (basic and thematic) produced by different institutions, in several editions and scales, covering the national territory, as well as much of the former colonial territories. These documents are essential in teaching and research activities in several scientific fields of FCSH.

Scholarship
Merit Scholarships aimed at students enrolled in first cycle degree courses that obtained exceptional academic results and were enrolled in the Faculty in the previous academic year. The awarding criteria are:
- Achieving the best average grade in the courses taken in the previous academic year;
- Successfully completing all the courses taken in the previous academic year;
- Finishing the year with success in all courses.
Students who obtained an average grade of less than 15 (out of 20) in the previous academic year are not eligible.

FCSH students have a canteen that serves meals at social prices from 2.40 and access to all SASNOVA units as well as to food services belonging to all other Public Higher Education Institutions in Lisbon.

SUMMER SCHOOL / ESCOLA DE VERÃO

FCSH/NOVA performs every year, from july to september, its traditional summer school.
This school offers a set of intensive and short courses in all areas of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Intended for a diverse audience, from Portugal or from the rest of the world, this courses, with free registration, have aim to present, discuss and work in a brief but intensive, generic themes or specific materials of different knowledges featuring FCSH/NOVA. The courses are, accordingly, a place for update and critical reflection on these issues, entering into a continuos training project or educational supplement.
FCSH/NOVA students or from other colleges or universities, teachers, specialists wishing to develop or update their own knowledge, will find varied offer in Summer School a privileged space for dialogue. Likewise, a more general audience, wishing only broaden their horizons and fulfill the desire of exercising their intellectual abilities, find the frequency of the courses of the Summer School an attractive workspace.
The summer courses also aim to operate as a university point of encounter between Portugal, the Portuguese-speaking countries, Europe and the rest of the world.
Upon review, college students may also earn credits through the Summer School courses.
The Summer School courses, mostly, are also accredited to teachers of primary and secondary teaching.

INNOVATION CENTRE
The Innovation Centre is a newly established FCSH/NOVA structure, dedicated to supporting the creation and initial development of companies, cooperatives and other economic projects with a scientific basis of their students, recent graduates, alumni and researchers, and the transfer of knowledge among the faculty, their research units and economic actors in the fields of social sciences, arts and humanities.
The promotion of a culture of entrepreneurship in the academic community, by supporting the development of activities to participants start their own business and the application of knowledge acquired and produced at FCSH/NOVA is one of our key challenges and objectives for the next years, enhancing the success of our graduates while encouraging the development of the national economy, through high value-added products and services.
