Subject matter

1. The autonomy of literature and the paradoxes of literary institution.
2. Relations between history, theory and criticism of literature.
3. Critical concepts: literary text, author, literary, literary institution, interpretation;
4. Literary texts and the break with the historical-social context.
5. The pragmatism of reading and the significance.

Teaching method

The classes will be theoretical and practical. Exposure, criticism and discussion of interpretations will be based in bibliography and in examples of literary texts. This procedure calls for the student participation, in order to provide them with an argumentative practice.

Evaluation method

The evaluation will consist of: 1. oral presentation of themes in the choice of students - 30%; 2. A Written test on the studied subjects - 70%.
