Schedule

It depends on the working method of each training course. The working time for the classes will be agreed with each PhD student, or when there are more than 10 students in each year, it will be agreed with all students of the programme.

Education objectives

The PhD Programme in Sustainable Chemistry aims to offer a graduate training that brings together expertise in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Biomedical Sciences and initiate students in the following characteristics: 

  1. Ability to systematically understand in new situations or contexts multidisciplinary and comprehensive in the various fields of Sustainable Chemistry; 
  2. Skills and abilities to integrate knowledge, including a close connection and interdependence between basic science and technology, so characteristic of Sustainable Chemistry; 
  3. Ability to conceive, design and develop scientific research in Sustainable Chemistry identifying appropriate research methods to solve complex problems and no single solution in new situations or contexts that require use of multidisciplinary knowledge; 
  4. Having performed a substantial body of original research and competitive, in accordance with the requirements and standards accepted internationally, at least part of that investigation must have been published or accepted for publication in specialized journals system with independent evaluators; 
  5. Being able to critically analyze the results, evaluate and synthesise new and complex situations developing solutions and making decisions in situations of limited or incomplete information, and assessing their suitability; 
  6. Being able to communicate their knowledge in Sustainable Chemistry, and reasoning and conclusions, the experts and practitioners, in a clear and unambiguous; 
  7. Being able by using its knowledge and / or research findings, to exemplify the link between knowledge and technology and to reflect on the relevance of both social progress, cultural or technological.

Employability

The degree of Doctor of Sustainable Chemistry will enable the access to a career in teaching or research in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or Biomedical Sciences. Given the training received in the PhD program that involves multidisciplinary knowledge in related areas of chemistry, Doctors in Sustainable Chemistry are entitled to perform functions of research and development in the above areas with special awareness of the technology transfer and the industrial innovation.
