7th Framework Programme for Research and Development
The 7th Framework Programme (FP) is the European Union's General Directorate for Research and Innovation main instrument for funding research and development, and a fundamental instrument of internationalization of research teams in Europe. The FP is proposed by the European Commission and adopted by the Council and the European Parliament following a co-decision procedure.
Call for proposals
The 7th FP is operational since the 1st of January 2007 and will expire in 2013, representing the biggest ever European research programme, of vital importance in the fund raising strategy of the UNL. To register for the application process and to gather all the information required, visit the CORDIS website.

The application to the calls under the 7th FP is made by using the EPSS service.
European Research Council
The European Research Council (ERC) is the first European funding body set up to support investigator-driven frontier research. Its main aim is to stimulate scientific excellence by supporting and encouraging the very best, truly creative scientists, scholars and engineers to be adventurous and take risks in their research. The scientists are encouraged to go beyond established frontiers of knowledge and the boundaries of disciplines.
The ERC complements other funding activities in Europe and is a flagship component of the 'Ideas Programme' of the EU's 7th FP. ERC grants are awarded through open competition to projects headed by starting (Starting Grants) and established researchers (Advanced Grants) irrespective of their origins, who are working or moving to work in Europe - the sole criterion for selection is scientific excellence.
Euraxess portal
The European Commission has launched the Euraxess Portal, aiming to promote the International Mobility of Researchers. Making Europe more attractive for researchers means to welcome and support researchers and their families in a personalised way in the practical hurdles of moving abroad, providing information related with legal, administrative and practical matters, relevant to incoming and outgoing researchers.
European Institute of Innovation and Technology
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is a new initiative which aims to become a flagship for excellence in European innovation in order to face the challenges of globalisation.
Research Openings Service
The revamped CORDIS Research Openings Service provides details of calls for applications from experts and specialists in various aspects of European Union research policy. Users will also find information on career opportunities through research fellowships and in the European institutions, new project partnership needs arising from competitive calls, and links to other EU, national and regional openings websites.
