  1. Improve Predictivity and Minimization Strategies of Immunogenicity for biotherapeutics in Man
  2. Non-genotoxic carcinogenesis: Identification of early markers and molecular classification of tumours
  3. Development of expert (QSAR) systems for in silico toxicity prediction
  4. Improved Predictivity of Non-Clinical Safety Evaluation
  5. Qualification of Translational Safety Biomarkers from Non Clinical to Early Clinical Studies
  6. Improving and strengthening the monitoring of the benefit/risk of medicines marketed in the EU
  • EFFICACY (Address bottlenecks related to predictive pharmacology, the identification and validation of biomarkers and patient recruitment)

  1. Islet cell research: Improving β-cell function and identification of diagnostic biomarkers for treatment monitoring in diabetes
  2. Surrogate markers for micro- and macrovascular hard endpoints to shorten clinical trials on diabetes
  3. Pain research: Innovative preclinical and clinical rapprochement to produce biomarkers for safer and more effective treatments
  4. New tools for the development of novel therapies in psychiatric disorders
  5. Neurodegenerative disorders : Bridging the preclinicalclinical divide
  6. Understanding Severe Asthma, the fundamental bottleneck to advancing new medicines for the syndrome
  7. COPD Patient Reported Outcomes (PROs), a major bottleneck to understanding patient and economic benefits of new therapies
  • EDUCATION & TRAINING (Address the gaps within education and training in support of the medicines development process)

  1. Establishment of a network to facilitate and coordinate European training and education relevant for stakeholders of medicines research and development
  2. IMI Safety Sciences for Medicines Training Programme
