Research Support
Mission
The main objective of the Research Support Office is to assist research units with the development and implementation of strategies for research, in pursuit of the objectives established for the University.
Its functions are: (i) to promote and conduct studies to support the strategic decisions of UNL in what concerns research; (ii) to promote collaboration between the units aiming to achieve and maintain excellence in research; (iii) to disseminate information concerning calls for projects, grants and prizes; (iv) to organize and update the information supplied by the units namely scientific publications and research projects financed by different sources; (v) to increase the societal impact of the research produced, by making it more visible both inside the University and to the public.

Santander Totta - UNL Prize
This Prize distinguishes research projects led by junior researchers of UNL. In its first edition, in 2007/2008, a project in the area of Life Sciences of a team of ITQB and FCT was awarded. The edition of 2008/2009 was dedicated to Social Sciences and Humanities and the winning team joins researchers from FCT and FE with a project entitled The Regulation of Next Generation Networks. The edition of 2009/2010 was dedicated to Exact Sciences and the prize was awarded to researchers Ana Cecília Roque and Olga Iranzo, for the project “Magnetismo e biomimetismo em processos de separação”. Workshop Ciência 2008
The workshop “Science and Research at NOVA – Workshop Programme Ciência 2008” took place on the 19th of November at the Rectory of UNL and brought together the researchers appointed by Universidade Nova de Lisboa within the Programme Ciência 2008.
135 people attended the workshop, which aimed at promoting the UNL researchers' projects and the exchange of knowledge between the University's faculties and institutes.
Scientific Community Support Fund - New Regulations
The Scientific Community Support Program (FACC) provides selective funding to Portuguese scientific coummunity initiatives that foster R&D activities or dissemination of information, in any scientific area, that cannot be supported by one of the FCT’s specific programs, but which serve to complement and articulate with the regular programs.
