NOVA Students in Future Leaders Programme of Carolina Foundation
NOVA students Joana Mendonça and Pedro Fonseca represent Portugal in the X Programa de Jóvenes Líderes Iberoamericanos. Joana Mendonça, Law student and Pedro Fonseca, Mechanical Engineering student, are the brainstorm to Entrepreneurship and ENOVA – Entrepreneur Club of Universidade NOVA. The programme brings together young leaders who share cultures with Latin America, with a leadership and social responsibility related full schedule.
50 young leaders were selected amongst 450 applications from 280 Universities - visits include the spanish cities of Madrid and Seville, the Presidency of the Republic in Lisbon, Portugal, the International Criminal Court in the Hague and the European Parliament in Brussels. The sessions include from meetings with Ignacio Polanco, Chairman of PRISA, Francisco Luzón, Universia World Vice-President and Santander Executive Vice-president for Latin America, Isidoro Álvarez, President of El Corte Inglés, Princes of Asturías, Filipe de Espanha and Letícia Ortiz, JavierNadal, Executive Vice-President of Fundación Telefónica, Márius Rubiralta, Spain’s Secretary General of Universities, Fuensanta Coves, President of Andalucia Parliament, Jorge Sampaio, former Portuguese President of the Republic, Joaquin Almunia, Vice-President of the European Commission, Borja Prado, President of Endesa and Ramón Jaurégui, Spanish Minister for the Presidency.
This is the 10th edition of the Carolina Foundation Young Leaders Programme - the best students (43 Latin American, 2 Portuguese, 5 Spanish) were selected to benefit from visits and activities planned to find out the current European perspectives and their relations with Latin America. The aim is for young participants to experience the exclusive opportunity to blend in Spanish, Portuguese and European reality. An intense two and a half week schedule, during which participants will meet with the leaders of our political, economic, social and cultural realities.
