Homage to Elvira Fortunato at AR
The Assembly of the Republic paid homage to Elvira Fortunato, Professor of the Department of Materials Science and Director of CENIMAT (Materials Research Centre) of the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, on the 13th of March.
The deputies approved, unanimously, a Congratulation Vow for the achievements of Elvira Fortunato and her team and for the prestige the researcher added to Portuguese scientific research.
Considered one of the top researchers worldwide in the area of transparent electronics, Elvira Fortunato has received many awards and distinctions. Last year, she received what’s considered to be a sort of European Nobel, the first award of the European Research Council in the area of Engineering, worth 2, 25 million Euros. It was the major prize given to a Portuguese scientist so far.
