Dean of the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia of NOVA elected President of the Academy of Engineering

The Dean of the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Professor Fernando Santana, was elected President of the Academy of Engineering for the triennium 2010-2013. Fernando Santana was elected last 14th of June and succeeds Carlos Salema, who presided that institution between 2007 and 2010.

Full Professor at the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia of Universidade Nova de Lisboa (FCT/UNL), Fernando Santana is currently Dean of this Faculty, President of the Fundação da Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia (FFCT), President of Uninova - Instituto de Desenvolvimento de Novas Tecnologias and President of the Administration Board of Madan Parque de Ciência.

Fernando Santana has a degree in Civil Engineering by the University of Luanda, Master of Science in Public Health Engineering by the Imperial College of the University of London, Ph.D. in Sanitary Engineering by the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and aggregation in the group of disciplines Projecto de Equipamentos Ambientais of the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia of Universidade Nova, of which he is responsible. In addition to his pedagogical and scientific activity at FCT/UNL, he is a member of the Academy of Engineering, the Admission and Qualification Board of the Ordem dos Engenheiros, the Advisory Council of IRAR and the Conselho Nacional da Água, as well as Director of the newspaper Água & Ambiente.
