FCT PhD inspires Moda Lisboa
Pre-historic metal micro-structures studied by Elin Figueiredo, researcher at CENIMAT|I3N, as part of her PhD thesis served as inspiration to Portuguese fashion designer. Alexandra Moura presented her collection at Moda Lisboa – Summer 2011, shaped on an archaeological CSI. The collection “Microlhar” focuses on new technologies and a new look on materials. “The optical microscopic observation of metallic artifacts with thousands of years show us images of microstructures with stunning corrosion”, describes the designer. She stamped fabrics with images of those pre-historic metal microstructures (Final Bronze Age – 1300-700 BC) found in Portugal and designed by Elin Figueredo (under the guidance of Fátima Araújo from ITN and Rui Silva from DCM/CENIMAT|I3N), researcher in archaeometallurgy in CENIMATI3N.
