NOVA’s DAY – 2 November

Universidade NOVA de Lisboa signaled its 37th anniversary on November 2nd. Celebrations marked the date from 5pm to 8pm at NOVA’s Rectorate, in the Campolide Campus.

Guests speakers included Professor Eduardo Marçal Grilo with a presentation on “University in the 21st Century” as well as distinguished NOVA´s Rector, António Rendas, and NOVA alumni, journalist and broadcaster Conceição Lino, from SIC Television.

The celebrations also included the investiture of the new members of the Rectoral Team (Vice-Rectors, Professor José Esteves Pereira, Professor Miguel de Oliveira Correia and Professor João Paulo Cerejo Goulão Crespo and Pro-Rector, Professor Válter José da Guia Lúcio) as well as speeches from NOVA’s General Council President, Professor Eduardo Arantes e Oliveira, and NOVA’s Academic Federation President, Luís Coelho.

NOVA´s new PhDs received their insignia and the winning researchers from Prémio de Mérito Científico Santander Totta/UNL, academic merit students and students who stood out in the areas of entrepreneurship, photography and sports also receive NOVA´s diplomas.

A performance from NOVA’s Choir ended the celebration, followed by cocktail for the participants at the Rectorate Atrium as well as a concert by NOVA’s rock band, "Meu e Teu", winner of the 2010 Rock/Universia competition.
