Professor Eduardo Caetano passed away

Professor Eduardo Caetano, Full Emeritus Professor at the Escola Nacional de Saúde Pública of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, passed away.

Professor Eduardo Caetano was graduated in electrical engineering by the Faculdade de Engenharia of Universidade do Porto. He was President of the International Federation of Hospital Engineering and the Portuguese Association of Engineering Hospitalar and General-Director of Health Facilities and Equipments.

He was an expert of the European Union for planning and programming hospital equipments, member of the Scientific Council of the Instituto Nacional de Engenharia Biomédica and academic correspondent of the Academia Portuguesa de Medicina. He played an essential role in the planning and programming of the first major Portuguese hospitals, which constitute the current hospital network, and published several works on health engineering the last of which, O Internamento Hospitalar – Aspectos Tecnológicos, was published in 2002 by Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. He also published A Nação e os Técnicos, Coimbra e os seus Problemas and Mário Silva, Professor e Democrata.
