NOVA’s Rector invested as President of CRUP

The Rector of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, António Rendas, is invested today as President of the Portuguese National Conference of Rectors (CRUP).

This is a term of three years and the ceremony will take place during the Conference meeting, at the headquarters of CRUP, in Lisbon. The Portuguese National Conference of Rectors, created in 1979, is a coordinating and representation body of Portuguese Universities that, among other functions, comments on draft legislations and budgetary issues related to public higher education, as also contributes to closer connections between similar foreign institutions.

António Rendas, currently Rector of Universidade Nova de Lisboa (UNL), has a degree by the Faculdade de Medicina de Lisboa (1972) and a Ph.D by the Cardiothoracic Institute of the University of London (1977), in the area of Experimental Pathology. Between 1977 and 1978 he was a researcher at the Harvard Medical School, in the USA.

António Rendas also directed the Instituto de Higiene e Medicina Tropical of Universidade Nova de Lisboa (IHMT), and later was Dean of the Faculdade de Ciências Médicas (FCM) of the same University.
