NOVA in UNICA Entrepreneurship Competition semi-finals

NOVA’s team, Biotech Medical Solutions (BMS), entered UNICA Entrepreneurship Competition semi-finals, an initiative aims to promote entrepreneurship among students and young researchers.

The Portuguese team Business Plan focused on the development of hemostatic products which prevent massive bleeding in the course of surgeries. The product, names as “BleedFor”, can stop bleeding from 60 to 90 seconds, and was presented before a jury made of representatives from various universities.

Made of NOVA´s students and alumni: Hussein Cassamo, Nuno Ferreira, Joana Mendonça, Sofia Esteves and Tiago Cunha Reis, BMS led NOVA to the semi-finals, as the only Portuguese university among 22 European counterpart, such as Freie Universität Berlin, Université Paris-Dauphine, University of Cyprus, Humboldt Universität zu Berlin and Tallinn University of Technology.

UNICA Entrepreneurship Competition aims to promote entrepreneurship among students and young researchers of UNICA member Universities, fostering European competition and cooperation,
contributing to a European higher education and research area.
