On the 10th of January, Impresa facilities in Paço de Arcos welcome the first working session of the 2nd edition of Health Parliament Portugal, the first Parliament in Portugal devoted entirely to the theme of health that promotes a broad forum to discuss and make recommendations on the future of health.

The 2nd edition of this initiative, which brings together NOVA, the pharmaceutical company Janssen, the weekly newspaper Expresso and Microsoft, was officially launched in September 2019 with the opening of applications for the parliamentary positions and the presentation of the six specific themes of this edition, namely: Innovation and value in health, Sustainability and equity, Oncology, Technology and care integration, Human resources in health, and Mental health.

At this first meeting, the 60 selected parliamentarians aged 21-40 will be placed in one of the six committees corresponding to each of the themes and will participate in a training session.

In the coming months, four plenary sessions, field visits, and interviews will be held to produce recommendations for the national health system, taking into account (up to) six sub-themes that can be defined by each committee. The recommendations will be publicly presented in June.

Each committee will be accompanied by an advisory council always consisting of a National Deputy member ember, a former ruler, a president or vice-president of a health-related body and someone from the private or social sector.

Check out the programme for the first working session (content in Portuguese).
