2nd edition of Health Parliament Portugal begins with training session to the 60 selected parliamentarians

The initiative brings together NOVA, the pharmaceutical company Janssen, newspaper Expresso and Microsoft.

Impresa's facilities in Paço de Arcos opened its doors on January 10 for the first meeting of the 2nd edition of Health Parliament Portugal, the first Parliament in the country devoted entirely to healthcare powered by NOVA, the pharmaceutical company Janssen, newspaper Expresso and Microsoft.

At the start of this 2nd edition, the 60 selected parliamentarians, aged from 21 to 40, were placed in one of the six committees corresponding to a specific theme: Innovation and Value in Health, Sustainability and Equity, Oncology, Technology and Integrated Care, Human Resources in Health, and Mental Health.

To the parliamentarians, José Fragata, NOVA's Vice-Rector, left a message about the transformative aspect of the experience: «When this is over, you will be different people. You will intervene in society by discussion».

In the coming months, four plenary sessions, field visits and interviews will be held to produce recommendations for the national health system, taking into account (up to) six sub-themes that can be defined by committee. In June, the recommendations will be publicly presented.

Each committee will be accompanied by an advisory board always consisting of a deputy, a former national ruler, a president or vice-president of a health-related body and someone from the private or social sector.
