European Commission awards ERA Chair to social innovation project of Nova SBE

The European Commission selected the project SOCIALinNOVA-HUB for funding. This is the first ERA Chair ever awarded to Nova School of Business & Economics (Nova SBE) aiming to position the school as a European reference in Social Innovation research.

This 2.5 M € project is undoubtedly the result of the pioneering spirit and credibility in the successful implementation of social innovation initiatives of both Nova SBE and Portugal. The school of business and economics of NOVA University Lisbon will use this award to implement structural changes, therefore increasing its research capacity, visibility, and competitiveness.

This funding will allow SOCIALinNOVA-HUB to pursue the recruitment of an internationally acclaimed professor and researcher in social innovation, and a team to develop this area across education, research, and community engagement. Quality teaching in social innovation, strengthening research operations, and the expansion of international research networks are some of the principal goals of this project. The ERA Chair will also actively contribute to the construction of the European Research Area.

Social innovation is the necessary track towards cooperation , solidarity, social and economic convergence, entrepreneurship, and innovation.and it will decisively contribute to the accomplishment of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
