Found dinosaur nest room in Lourinhã in excavations coordinated by FCT NOVA

Discovered the oldest dinosaur nests in Europe.

On Saturday, June 15, ended the excavations of a large carnivorous dinosaur nest, discovered on the Caniçal Beach, in Lourinhã, are presumed to be of the species Lourinhanosaurus antunesi. To be confirmed, this is the fourth nest to fit the collections of the Museum of Lourinhã and to be found in this county.

The excavations organized by the Museum of Lourinhã, counted on the scientific coordination of FCT NOVA, as well as with the financial support of this institution through the project XTaleggs, and by the Dino Park of Lourinhã, through the financial contribution for the entrance of the visitors.

With 152 million years, these are also the oldest dinosaur nests in Europe. Paleontologists still do not know the reason for discovering so many eggs of this species in the region, but one thing is certain: this seemed to be the ideal place for the Lourinhanosaurus to nest.
