The book "Sustainable Solid Waste Collection and Management" by Ana Pires, Graça Martinho, Susana Rodrigues and Maria Isabel Gomes unanimously won the 1st International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) Prize, the ISWA Publication Award 2019.
The winning publication explains how waste collection should be addressed and implemented within the framework of sustainable solid waste management.
"If I were a teacher, I would consider this book a must read in a waste management discipline," commented Dave Ross, Associate Editor of the Waste Management & Research Journal.
The book is the result of an interdepartmental partnership between researchers from the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering and the Department of Mathematics at NOVA School of Science and Technology.
The prize was presented on October 8th during the ISWA 2019 World Congress held in Bilbao.
