Know the winners of the 11th edition of the Economic Journalism Award, a joint initiative of NOVA and Santander Totta

The Economic Journalism Award aims to promote the quality of journalistic creation, distinguishing the best works of print and electronic press.

The winners of the 11th edition of the Economic Journalism Award, a joint initiative of NOVA and Banco Santander Totta, organized by the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences (FCSH / NOVA), were announced today.

The Economic Journalism Award aims to promote the quality of journalistic creation, distinguishing the best works of print and electronic press in the areas of Management and Business, Financial Markets and Sustainability and Corporate Innovation.

Bruno Faria Lopes of Sábado, was the the winner of the Grand Prix of the 11th edition of this award, having also won in the category of Management and Business. Published in July 2016, the journalist’s research piece stood out among 70 candidates, having received the Grand Prix with a monetary value of 10 000 euros.

The winner of the Financial Markets category was journalist Luis Rosa with an article published last October in the Observador with an analysis of the illegal schemes used by the  Espírito Santo group.

In the theme of Sustainability and Corporate Innovation, in turn, the winner was the article "Female managers of the stock market earn 30% less than men" that addressed gender pay inequality in the business management universe, and was published in May in Jornal de Negócios by Rui Barroso, Elisabete Miranda, Patrícia Abreu, Catarina Pereira and Paulo Moutinho.

Each of these articles received a monetary prize of 5,000 euros.

The prizes were awarded today by António Rendas, Rector of NOVA, and António Vieira Monteiro, Executive President of Santander Totta, at a ceremony held at Banco Santander Totta's building in Rua da Mesquita, Lisbon.

The articles in the competition were evaluated by a jury presided by Prof. Francisco Caramelo (Dean of FCSH / NOVA) and with the contributions of Prof. António Granado (FCSH / NOVA), Dr. Conceição Zagalo (GRACE), Dr. Sérgio Figueiredo (Media Capital), Dr. Helena Garrido, and Prof. Paulo Pinho (Nova SBE).

Winners of the 11th edition of the Economic Journalism Award
