Students present their business ideas in the Final Pitch of NOVA Idea Competition

Multidisciplinary teams formed by students from several NOVA schools brought innovative projects to this edition of the competition.

Ten teams formed by students from several schools of NOVA presented their business plans in the 2017 edition of the NOVA Idea Competition held on 23 May at the Rectorate.

The teams were awarded prizes that include grants up to a maximum of 1.500 euros and entrances to the European Innovation Academy.

First Place: RentMe
Team: Giulia Maria Siddi and Antonio de Pinho (Nova SBE), Ayse Elif Yildirim (Faculdade de Direito), Joao Pedro dos Santos (NOVA IMS)

RentMe is a business that offers a short-term easy and affordable short-term rental option of mid-sized electronic home appliances for students who move to Lisbon temporarily.

Second Place: On Fire Tube
Team: João Neves and João Costa (Nova SBE), Filipe Neves (FCT)

The runner up was On Fire Tube, a new social network for all athletes with the mission of finding new talents, generating additional income for all the sports players and reward the best fans who support their idols from anonymity to stardom.

Third Place: Trocos
Team: Simão Guimarães Gonçalves (FCT), Sara Gonçalves Aguiar (FCSH) e Joana Strecht Alves (Nova SBE)

Trocos is a service provider platform where young people can create and find small and quick job opportunities while promoting their skills, and where everyone who needs to contract someone occasionally for a service can do it in a cheap and easy way.

The jury of this initiative was formed by the vice-rector of NOVA, Professor João Paulo Crespo and Professors António Grilo, Guilherme Victorino, Rogério Puga Leal, João Soeiro Carvalho and Helena Serra together with Charles Buchanan and Miguel Fontes (Director Startup Lisboa), José Damião (Director Madan Parque) and Pedro Fonseca (Founder CrowdProcess).

NOVA Idea Competition is an annual initiative promoted by the Entrepreneurship Office of the Rectorate of NOVA with the purpose of promoting the entrepreneurial culture within the university and encouraging multidisciplinary work.
