It is the first Portuguese institution to open a cross-border campus - and classes start as early as September 2022

It is in the region where the new capital of Egypt is being built, on the outskirts of Cairo, and is about to open its doors. Starting in the new academic year, five Nova SBE, FCT NOVA and NOVA IMS degrees will be offered to the students of the first Portuguese campus built across borders.

In partnership with an American institution, NOVA already had courses in operation - but now, and accepted the proposal put forward by the Portuguese embassy in Egypt, it will operate in a campus with its own name and a teaching method equal to the courses of the various schools of NOVA in Portugal.

To begin with, a zero year will take place to adapt students to the method of the Portuguese university - in some cases, as already explained by the Vice-Rector for Teaching and Internationalization of NOVA, João Amaro de Matos, classes and exams, taught in English, will be given with the same content and at the same time, in Cairo and in NOVA schools in Portugal.

The agreement for the establishment of NOVA Cairo was signed on October 26th, 2021, in Cairo, by the Rector of NOVA, João Sàágua and the President of The Knowledge Hub Universities, Mahmoud Allam.

The ceremony was attended and witnessed by the Ambassador of Portugal in Egypt, Manuela Franco, the Vice-Rector of NOVA, João Amaro de Matos, besides other representatives of NOVA University Lisbon. Also present were Ahmed El Sewedy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Ihab Salama, CEO of El Sewedy Education and Vice-Chairman of Board of Trustees.

Meanwhile, two open days have already taken place - on May 14th and June 23rd - that allowed to reveal a little more of this very special offer of NOVA's internationalization strategy.
