NOVA creates reference laboratory in advanced materials in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Region

A reference laboratory on advanced sustainable materials was launched today. NANOVA is the new project of i3N CENIMAT, from NOVA School of Science and Technology, directed by the scientist and Vice-rector of NOVA Elvira Fortunato.

The creation of the new laboratory, which features cutting-edge technological equipment, aims to strengthen the research capacity in the field of materials, with an impact on the transfer of technology to various industrial sectors at regional, national and international levels.

Avant-garde infrastructure, NANOVA uses funding from the Commission for the Coordination and Regional Development of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley. (CCDRLVT).

The ceremony of presentation and laying of the first stone of NANOVA was attended by the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor, the Minister for Territorial Cohesion, Ana Abrunhosa, the Secretary of State for the Valorisation of the Interior, Isabel Ferreira, the President of CCDRLVT, Teresa Almeida, the Mayor of Almada, Inês de Medeiros, the NOVA Rector, João Sàágua, the NOVA Vice-rector, Elvira Fortunato, and the NOVA School of Science and Technology Director, Virgílio Machado.
