EUTOPIA at NOVA

The meeting starts this Monday, 23rd, in the auditorium of the Rectory of NOVA, in the Campus of Campolide, and promises two days of intense debate about the next steps of EUTOPIA European University - the alliance of European universities that NOVA joined last September.

In the words of Professor João Sáàgua, Rector of NOVA, who will welcome the working group, "being part of this alliance will bring great opportunities to collaborate with our European partners and reinforces our mission as a global and civic University. For NOVA, this means being a high-profile international student-centred institution that serves society through knowledge and addresses today's local and global challenges in innovative and impactful ways."

The opening session, scheduled for 8.30 am, goes on with Nikki Muckle, General-Secretary of the alliance. Elvira Fortunato, Portugal's Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, will end this initial moment.

The programme also includes the presentation of NOVA 4 The Globe. This interdisciplinary platform promotes dialogue in the NOVA Community around the different areas of knowledge that contribute to sustainability. Its overview will conclude the live broadcast on NOVA's Youtube channel.

Created in 2019, EUTOPIA European University aims to be an inclusive community of universities that share common values and seeks to address local and global challenges, contributing to a new model of higher education in Europe.

Selected to be one of the first Erasmus+ 'European Universities' pilot projects, EUTOPIA is joined by the University of Babeș-Bolyai in Cluj-Napoca (Romania), Pompeu Fabra University-Barcelona (Spain), Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium) CY Cergy Paris University (France), Technische Universität Dresden (Germany), University of Gothenburg (Sweden), Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (Portugal), University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), Ca'Foscari University of Venice (Italy) and University of Warwick (United Kingdom).
