A team from FCT NOVA was the winner of the €500,000  Innovation Prize awarded by the Imprensa Nacional -Casa da Moeda (INCM) with the INTMOB project - Intralogistics Mobile Assistant Unit for Flexible Manufacturing Systems

The project foresees the construction of a robot for INCM logistics based on the Industry 4.0 paradigm. According to Professor José Barata, from FCT NOVA's Technology and Systems Center, "the value proposition is the use of a mobile robot, simultaneously operator and transporter, which will not only guarantee the location and safety of all value materials transported inside the INCM, as well as freeing employees of heavy and automated tasks, so that they can devote themselves fully to actions in which they are truly essential. "

The awards ceremony for the INCM Innovation Award 2017 was held on May 24 and was attended by the Minister of the Presidency and Administrative Modernization, Maria Manuel Leitão Marques, who stressed that "both public and private institutions need the knowledge that comes from universities, because that is what allows us to modernize and respond to the expectations of citizens, who are increasingly demanding. "

In addition to enabling the development and improvement of the project, this recognition confirms NOVA's position as a university committed to scientific development with social impact.
