NOVA at the final conference of the SPEAR project in Copenhagen, on the future of (gender) equality, inclusion and democratic values in European academia

 

NOVA participated in the final conference of the Project SPEAR - Supporting and Implementing Plans for Gender Equality in Academia and Research which took place in Copenhagen, Denmark on March, 1st and had as its theme: "The Future of (Gender) Equality, Inclusivity and Democratic Values in European Academia: practices, prerequisites, Pushback and Prospectives".

NOVA participated in the final conference of the Project SPEAR - Supporting and Implementing Plans for Gender Equality in Academia and Research which took place in Copenhagen, Denmark on March, 1st and had as its theme: "The Future of (Gender) Equality, Inclusivity and Democratic Values in European Academia: practices, prerequisites, Pushback and Prospectives".

With the end of the project implementation, this event aims to celebrate the efforts and achievements of the partner institutions in the promotion of gender equality in research and academia, in particular through the development of Gender Equality Plans, gathering for this purpose several teams that were involved in SPEAR.  NOVA was represented by the team that coordinates the project in the Rectory, led by the Vice-Rector, Prof. Isabel Nunes.

The conference highlighted the achievements of SPEAR and explored its impact on the broader context of gender equality, inclusion and democracy - and how these topics can enhance and strengthen each other across Europe and beyond.

The event also featured a virtual address by the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Prof. Elvira Fortunato, who was the coordinator of the SPEAR Project at NOVA until she took up her position in the Government.
