NOVA present at the 21st meeting of Rectors of Tordesillas Group

Taking place at the Miguel Hernandez University in Spain, the conference has the theme "Open Science: a step towards accessible, global and democratic knowledge".

Taking place at the Miguel Hernandez University, in Spain, until this Tuesday, the 8th, the meeting of Rectores of the Tordesillas Group has as its theme "Open Science: a step towards accessible, global and democratic knowledge".

Created in June 2000, the Tordesillas Group emerged from the first meeting of rectors of the Universities of Brazil, Spain and Portugal as a commemoration of the 500 years of the Discovery of Brazil.  

Currently including 55 universities, of which 29 Brazilian, 18 Spanish and 8 Portuguese, this academic network aims to promote collaboration among universities of the three countries in the field of science and technology, developing joint projects among their PhD programmes in specific areas such as legal sciences, production engineering, public health, language and cultures, physics, psychology of organisations, environmental sciences, among others.   

Besides NOVA, whose Rector, João Sàágua, was represented by the Vice-Rector João Amaro de Matos, the Universities of Porto, Minho, Aveiro, Lisbon, UBI and UTAD are also present.   

The exchange activities are co-funded by the Carolina Foundation and the next meeting will take place in 2023 at the University of Brasilia.
