NOVA stands out in the National University Championship

March was a month full of sports competitions in Lisbon, Madeira and Mira!

The first victory was on the 2nd of March, in the National University Orienteering Championship, held in the Monsanto Floral Park in Lisbon, where Vasco Mendes (NOVA FCT) became the National University Champion.

But it was the 9th of March that was marked as an exceptional day for the NOVA swimmers, who competed in the National University Swimming Championship, held in Madeira: in total, they won 11 gold medals, 6 silver medals and 1 bronze medal. Read more: Rafaela Azevedo, from NOVA's Faculty of Medicine, also broke two national university records: 29.47 seconds in the 50 metres backstroke and 1:08.67 in the 100 metres backstroke.

In Roller Hockey, with games from 13 to 15 March, our team secured 4th place in the competition. In Cross Country, on the 16th, in Mira, the athletes who stood out were Alexandra Canedo (from the NOVA Medical School), who covered the 4 km in 14:57, closely followed by Catarina Cidade do Carmo (NOVA FCT) and Kcénia Bougrova (NEW ITQB).

On the 17th of March, the Karate CNU took place in Aveiro, with a large number of NOVA participants. João Xavier and José Miranda, from NOVA FCT, won the gold medals; André Moura and Tiago Pereira, from the same college, won the silver and bronze medals respectively.
