Professor Luís Baptista took office as Director of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities (NOVA FCSH) of the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa on July 15, 2021, at the Rectory Auditorium.
Luís Baptista is Full Professor at the Department of Sociology at NOVA FCSH, where he was also Deputy Director, Vice President of the Scientific Council and Director of CESNOVA (Center for Sociology Studies at NOVA University Lisbon), research unit of NOVA FCSH. He has a long career in teaching and research in the field of sociology, with special emphasis on the study of urban and territorial sociology. Since September 2020 he held the position of Vice-Rector at NOVA, coordinating the Academic, Social Innovation and Partnerships for Regional Development area.
Luís Baptista takes office after being elected Director of NOVA FCSH in a Faculty Council meeting, on June 23rd. He now begins a four-year term, until 2025, with the commitment to «open the School to continuous innovation, in the way in which the offer of teaching and the involvement of research is organized, and in the provision of services to the community, in the relationship with the city and citizenship».
