Represented by Vice-Rector João Amaro de Matos, the Director of NOVA Cairo, Francisco Caramelo, and by Pro-Rector Júlia Seixas, who moderated a panel dedicated to Sustainability, NOVA also counted the remote participation of Vice-Rector Pedro Saraiva and Professor of NOVA School of Science and Technology | FCT NOVA, João Correia de Freitas, who made the official presentation of NOVA's new strategy for Education, after a semester dedicated to Pedagogical Innovation.
"It is an honour for NOVA Cairo to host this event, Reimagine Education, at its campus in the Knowledge Hub of Universities. In the 21st century and in a context of accelerated change and so many uncertainties, education must reinvent itself and universities must discover a space of revaluation to respond to emerging problems and prepare citizens for the future. Valuing creative and critical thinking in teaching and learning is essential for reinventing education. The international campus of NOVA, here in Cairo, inspired by a millenary past and committed to the future of education, is an appropriate place for this reflection", underlined the director of NOVA Cairo, Professor Francisco Caramelo.
Earlier, in his opening speech, Vice-Chancellor João Amaro de Matos had also highlighted: "Hosting the world's leading awards programme and conference for #innovation in teaching and learning in such a symbolic and inspiring setting, and also at NOVA's new Cairo campus, as suggested from the beginning by QS, is, therefore, an honour and a recognition of the value of our University."
