Overall, 50 projects of the NOVA University Lisbon as leading institution were approved by the Foundation for Science and Technology under the Call for R&D Projects in all scientific fields - 2022, that was released at the end of July. The success rate of NOVA is equivalent to 18,9%, a result above the national average of 15,4%.
The applications admitted in the competition, in different scientific areas, were analysed by international evaluation panels. Among the classification criteria are the scientific merit and innovative character of the project, the scientific merit of the research team, the feasibility of the work programme and the contribution to the accumulation of knowledge and competencies.
The NOVA researchers who now have the quality of their research projects recognized will obtain funding for a period of 18 to 36 months, crucial for the development and production of new scientific knowledge in Portugal.
At the beginning of August, the Foundation for Science and Technology published the results of the 5th Contest to Stimulate Scientific Employment. Fifty researchers have thus seen their research plan approved, to be carried out at NOVA during 6 years, ensuring a total funding of around 15 million euros.
