SUPERNOVA Foundation programme broadens access to Higher Education in Europe

From 2023 on, NOVA’s programme dedicated to pre-university students is providing new entry possibilities in some top European universities – and considers NOVA’s new campus in Cairo as well

SUPERNOVA is a unique programme in Portugal aimed at the pre-university level and designed to help students from different countries to adapt to the European education system. Launched in 2018, it has sharply increased its scope over time: a year ago, it had 165 registrations; now it has 249.

Highly sought by young people from countries such as Brazil and the PALOP countries (meaning African Countries of Portuguese Official Language), SUPERNOVA has also registered entries from the US, Russia, Morocco, Tunisia or Bangladesh - and even the UK.

The big news is that from the semester starting in February 2023, SUPERNOVA guarantees applications not only in NOVA University Lisbon but also in several of NOVA's European partner universities, provided that the progression criteria are met.

So those who successfully complete the SUPERNOVA Foundation Programme may apply to universities such as Ca' Foscari, in Venice, CY Cergy, in Paris, or Lancaster University, in the United Kingdom. The University of Algarve, as our partner in the South of Portugal, and the new NOVA campus in Cairo are also part of this list of possibilities.

As a multidisciplinary programme, SUPERNOVA offers a set of different subjects taught by NOVA’s faculty in Portuguese and/or English to develop academic and linguistic competencies. Moreover, it can be completed in a period between six months and one year.
