Technology at the service of the patient: Value for Health CoLAB allows cardiac surgery patients to be monitored at home

VOH CoLAB

The Value for Health Collaborative Laboratory (VOH.CoLAB) has been working together with Hospital de Santa Marta since January on telemonitoring patients who have undergone cardiac surgery. The use of technology allows patients to be discharged earlier, thus being able to free beds for other patients and reduce costs to the hospital.

Recovery is monitored remotely using a set of devices that include a weighing scale, a tension meter, a mobile phone, and a smart band. The data collected from these technological devices is received by the Collaborative Laboratory, which analyzes it and prepares a report that is shared with the hospital. Based on these conclusions and constant communication with the patient, health professionals are thus able to maintain active surveillance of the health status.
