NOVA School of Law chosen by Google to international Chair for Data Governance

The NOVA School of Law was the Portuguese school chosen by Google to be part of the Southern Europe Chair for Data Governance that brings together some of the most prestigious Universities in Southern Europe – the Universidad CEU San Pablo, from Spain, the Università RomaTre, from Italy, and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, from Greece.

This is the recognition of the work of the NOVA School of Law, which is also based on the conviction of the need for the relationship between academia and society, and reflects the attention that the school dedicates to technological innovation.

The South EU Google Data Governance Chair intends to study the ethical and legal limits of technologies that handle personal data, as well as to create debate about the main challenges that the relationship between technological innovation and privacy poses. in today's society, with a future perspective.

The Chair will focus on scientific reflection and research in the academic field on Data Governance in the context of European countries and will serve as a framework to analyze the challenges of Data Law and Data Governance in Europe, in areas such as Big Data, Data Oriented Innovation, Artificial Intelligence or International Transfers of Personal Data.
