Professor Elvira Fortunato among the 25 Most Influential Women in Portugal in 2020

The Vice-Rector of NOVA University Lisbon, Professor Elvira Fortunato, was distinguished with the prize for the Most Influential Women in Portugal in 2020.

For the 6th time, Executiva distinguished the women who stood out the most in our country in areas as diverse as Science, Politics, Communication, Economics, Arts or Sports, in a ceremony on the afternoon of May 25.

Elvira Fortunato, who is also a professor and researcher at NOVA School of Science and Technology has always been one of the winners during the six editions of the award, in recognition of her work and contribution to science.

In 2020, the year was especially noteworthy, as she received the Pessoa Prize, and also the WFEO GREE Award Women, awarded by the World Federation of Engineering Organizations, considered the largest world prize for engineering developed by women.

At the ceremony, the Vice-Rector took the opportunity to appreciate the role of Science and its visibility during the past year and also to share the mechanisms in progress to minimize gender inequality in her area of ​​activity and at the Academy. The Professor is responsible in Portugal for the European project SPEAR, which aims to promote gender equality in academia.
